چکیده

We introduce a new open-source toolkit for model-based Bayesian seismic inversion called Delivery. The prior model in Delivery is a trace–local layer stack, with rock physics information taken from log analysis and layer times initialised from picks. We allow for uncertainty in both the fluid type and saturation in reservoir layers: variation in seismic responses due to fluid effects are taken into account via Gassman’s equation. Multiple stacks are supported, so the software implicitly performs a full AVO inversion using approximate Zoeppritz equations. The likelihood function is formed from a convolutional model with specified wavelet(s) and noise level(s). Uncertainties and irresolvabilities in the inverted models are captured by the generation of multiple stochastic models from the Bayesian posterior, all of which acceptably match the seismic data, log data, and rough initial picks of the horizons. Post-inversion analysis of the inverted stochastic models then facilitates the answering of commercially useful questions, e.g. the probability of hydrocarbons, the expected reservoir volume and its uncertainty, and the distribution of net sand. Delivery is written in java, and thus platform independent, but the SU data backbone makes the inversion particularly suited to Unix/Linux environments and cluster systems.

Delivery4D: an open–source model–based Bayesian seismic inversion program for time-lapse problems

An extension of the open–source Bayesian AVO inversion program Delivery [1],[2] to time–lapse seismic inversion problems is described. The inverse problem is for a trace–wise layer–stack model comprising unknown layer–times, rock properties, fluid types and saturations, and pore pressure changes. The “data” are true–amplitude imaged/migrated seismic reflectivity traces, for arbitrary numbers of...

Joint Bayesian Stochastic Inversion of Well Logs and Seismic Data for Volumetric Uncertainty Analysis

Here in, an application of a new seismic inversion algorithm in one of Iran’s oilfields is described. Stochastic (geostatistical) seismic inversion, as a complementary method to deterministic inversion, is perceived as contribution combination of geostatistics and seismic inversion algorithm. This method integrates information from different data sources with different scales, as prior informat...

Delivery Massager: A tool for propagating seismic inversion information into reservoir models

We introduce a new open-source program for transforming inversion data from the open-source Delivery seismic inversion software to industry-standard cornerpoint grid formats suitable for reservoir modelling and flow simulations. The seismic inversion data produced by Delivery is an array of trace-local stochastic samples from a Bayesian posterior distribution of reservoir layer parameters, whic...

Wavelet extractor: A Bayesian well-tie and wavelet extraction program

We introduce a new open-source toolkit for the well-tie or wavelet extraction problem of estimating seismic wavelets from seismic data, time-to-depth information, and well-log suites. The wavelet extraction model is formulated as a Bayesian inverse problem, and the software will simultaneously estimate wavelet coefficients, other parameters associated with uncertainty in the time-to-depth mappi...

Fully probabilistic seismic source inversion – Part 1: Efficient parameterisation

Seismic source inversion is a non-linear problem in seismology where not just the earthquake parameters themselves but also estimates of their uncertainties are of great practical importance. Probabilistic source inversion (Bayesian inference) is very adapted to this challenge, provided that the parameter space can be chosen small enough to make Bayesian sampling computationally feasible. We pr...
